One Walk, the Whole Shape of the City
Most visitors end up piecing Barcelona together from several separate tours: one for the old town, one for Gaudí, a wander down Las Ramblas squeezed in somewhere between. The Half-Day walk does it in a single unhurried outing. Over about three hours, a local host takes you from the Roman-founded Gothic Quarter, along Las Ramblas, and into the nineteenth-century Eixample to read Gaudí’s most famous buildings from the street. It is the closest thing myBCN offers to seeing the whole city in one go, without cramming and without a second booking.
Roman cityGothic QuarterLas RamblasEixampleGaudí
The old town, properly told
We begin in the Gothic Quarter, tracing Barcelona back to the Roman colony of Barcino: a wall built into a later house, carved dragons on old doorways, the cathedral square where the city has gathered for centuries. This part of the walk covers the same ground as our standalone Old Town tour, at the same unhurried pace.
Las Ramblas, with context
From the old town we cross Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s most famous boulevard, with your host explaining what the street has been across two centuries: a dry riverbed turned promenade, a stage for the city’s public life, and today one of the most walked streets in Europe. It is a natural, storied hinge between the medieval old town and the planned nineteenth-century city ahead.
Gaudí's Eixample, in full
The second half of the walk moves into the Eixample, Ildefons Cerdà’s wide nineteenth-century grid, and up Passeig de Gràcia to see Casa Batlló and Casa Milà from the street: Gaudí’s buildings read against the work of his Modernisme rivals on the same block.
A full morning, not a marathon
Three hours is enough time to cover real ground without rushing any one part. Semi-private and capped at nine adult guests, the walk still runs as a conversation with your host, with room to pause, ask questions, and let one subject run long if the group is interested.
If you only have one morning for Barcelona, this is the one that covers the most ground.

A local expert, every time
Local Hosts · Barcelona
Every myBCN walk is led by a local expert who knows the city well enough to connect its different parts into one story. Over three hours your host carries the thread from Roman Barcino through Las Ramblas to Gaudí’s Eixample, so the walk feels like one continuous idea rather than three tours stitched together. Different hosts lead on different days, and the walk stays a conversation throughout, open to questions the whole way.
Questions, Answered
The things guests ask before booking the Half-Day walk. If yours is not here, just write to us.
Those two walks each run about two and a half hours on their own subject. This Half-Day walk combines both, plus Las Ramblas as a connecting stretch, into one three-hour outing, so you only need one booking to cover the whole shape of the city.
The Express walk covers similar ground in ninety minutes, at a brisk pace with less depth. This Half-Day walk takes about twice as long and goes further into both the old town and Gaudí’s Eixample, plus Las Ramblas in between.
Both. The Public walk is a small group, capped at nine adults and usually four to eight. Book it Private to keep it entirely to your own party, for up to fifteen people.
Very. If you only have one outing to spend on orientation, this is the one that covers the most ground: old town, Las Ramblas and Gaudí, in a single morning.
Yes. The three-hour length is the main thing to plan around; younger children may find the second half easier with a short break. Tell us in advance and we can advise.
About 3 to 3.5 km, spread over roughly three hours. The route is mostly flat, running in a line from the old town to the Eixample.
No. This is an outdoor walk throughout. We read the cathedral, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà from the street. Interior visits are separate private tours.
At the Old Town Post Office (Edifici de Correus i Telègrafs), Plaça de Correus 1. Full joining instructions with a map link are sent after booking.
In the Eixample, near Passeig de Gràcia, a comfortable Metro or taxi ride from most central hotels.
There is often a short pause around Las Ramblas, roughly halfway through, but it depends on the day and the group. On a Private walk you can plan a break wherever suits you.
The route is mostly flat with a few cobbled stretches in the old town. Tell us about mobility needs before booking so we can advise or shape a Private version.
Public walks run in English. Other languages can be arranged as a Private tour when the right host is available.
The walk goes ahead rain or shine. Bring clothes for the forecast.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time.
Yes. Tell your host which part interests you most and they can spend longer there, or shape the finishing point around your afternoon plans.
Not on the Public walk, but many guests book a private interior tour of the Sagrada Família or Casa Batlló for later the same day or another day of their trip.
You book and pay online by card, and confirmation with joining details arrives by email within a minute or two.
Never expected, always appreciated. A warm review helps us just as much.
